This listing is for a copper cuff stamped with your custom words or phrase. I can accommodate up to 50 letters or symbols (including spaces).
Your words will be stamped on a six inch recycled copper bar. The cuffs are formed to include a 1/2 to 1" gap, so they will be approximately 6 1/2 to 7" in diameter and can be adjusted somewhat to be bigger or smaller.
You are welcome to choose a width of 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch or 1/2 an inch. The thicker 1/2 inch bar can accommodate two lines of text. Please see the other listings for examples and inspiration. You can also choose the text style you prefer, Juniper, Melody or Monotype Corsiva. And feel free to email me any questions, I will respond pretty quickly.
I will email you after I receive your order, asking what words/dates you would like stamped. Please double check spelling as I will stamp it exactly as I receive it.
I like to reserve a turnaround time of 6 business days in addition to shipping. I usually have it finished in the next few business days, but I say longer just in case. (I am a Mom and things happen sometimes).
I make these bracelets from discarded pieces of plumbing pipe. I measure and cut the pipe into six inch lengths, heat them with a torch to soften the metal, and crush them with a ten ton press. That gives me six inch strips of copper sheet. I heat them with the torch because getting crushed made the metal harden, and heat softens it. At this point the copper sheet is dirty and the inside is full of minerals from the drinking water, so I soak them in vinegar to dissolve some of that calcium, and give them a good scrub to clean them. After drying, I measure and mark the width I want for my bracelets. After, I measure and cut the strips. I heat them with the torch. I pound the strips straight and flatten them, and measure and stamp each individual letter of my phrase. Then I put on my mask and gloves and file the sharp edges and do a nice polish all over with my bench grinder. Lastly, I form them into cuffs and put them in the tumbler to work harden.
Hand stamping uses individual stamps lined up one after the other and hit with a hammer. The letters may not line up perfectly and some letters may be deeper than others. That is what makes it unique. Because of this technique your item may not look identical to the one shown, but it will be equally beautiful.
Due to the recycled nature of this copper, it may be slightly distressed looking. There may be scratches or marks in the metal, or the band may not be totally straight. These imperfections are not to be seen as defects, but unique qualities of using recycled or reclaimed metals. I try my best to keep these imperfections to a minimum.
