These unique earrings were made from used copper electrical wire.
They feature a cascade of small natural gemstone beads descending along a simple copper bar with a flared end.
The journey from scrap metal to jewelry is a fun and labor intensive process.
To begin, we cut the length of coated wire we need. Then we use a crank powered wire stripper to make a cut the entire length of our wire and using pliers, peel off the tough plastic and rubber coatings. Next, we separate all the strands (electrical wire is most often braided with multiple strands). Then we use a polishing cloth and run it along the length of one wire multiple times to clean and straighten it. After that we are able to use the clean wire to make our designs. We top them off with our handmade nickel free .925 recycled sterling ear wires or 14 Karat Rose Gold ear wires.
Including the ear wires they measure approximately three inches long.
