This simple necklace was made from a broken brass drum cymbal. It features an isosceles triangle, and measures approximately 16 inches long.
The process from scrap to jewelry is a fun and labor intensive one. It begins with measuring and drawing the shape we want into the cymbal. Then we cut the shape out (cymbals are very tough and sharp), punch and drill any needed holes and add a maker’s mark if necessary. Then, put on mask and gloves and file the sharp edges and do a nice polish all over. From there,we put them in the tumbler to further polish and work harden. After that, we make a dainty s clasp and jump rings and attach a small copper orbital chain.
