This simple necklace was made from recycled copper pipe.
The journey from old pipe to jewelry is a fun and labor intensive process. To begin, we measure and cut the pipes into six-inch lengths and crush them with a ten-ton press. That process makes two six-inch strips of copper sheet. We heat them with a torch because getting crushed hardens the metal, and it needs to be soft to work it. At this point the copper sheet is dirty and the inside is full of minerals from the drinking water, so a good soak in vinegar is needed to dissolve some of that calcium. After they dry, we measure and draw our triangles, cut them out, punch and drill holes in the top corners. Then, put on mask and gloves and file the sharp edges and do a nice polish all over. We add a dainty copper chain, connect everything with handmade jump rings, and finish it with a handmade clasp.
This necklace measures approximately 16.5 inches. The individual triangles (there are 6) measure less than 1/2 inch from top to bottom, and approximately 1/2 inch across.

Due to the recycled nature of this metal, it may be slightly distressed looking. All of my items are almost completely handmade. There may be scratches or marks in the metal, or something may not line up exactly perfect. These imperfections are not to be seen as defects, but unique qualities of using recycled or reclaimed metals and buying handmade. We try our best to keep these imperfections to a minimum.
Do not sleep, exercise, or shower in your jewelry. Keep it in a safe place like a jewelry box when not wearing it. Do not throw it in a drawer or purse, as that can cause jewelry to break or become tangled. Gemstones can break or crack with force. Jewelry can be fragile. Please treat it with care.
